Nepal Open University (NOU), established in 2016 through an act of the Nepalese Parliament, is the country's premier public institution dedicated to open and distance learning.Located in Manbhawan, Lalitpur, NOU aims to expand access to higher education for individuals unable to attend traditional universities, particularly those in remote or underserved areas.
NOU offers a range of academic programs across three faculties: Management & Law, Social Sciences & Education, and Science, Health & Technology.These programs are delivered through flexible online and distance learning modes, utilizing modern information and communication technologies to reach students nationwide .
The university is led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shilu Manandhar Bajracharya, PhD, and Registrar Dr. Govinda Singh Bista.It operates under the oversight of the University Grants Commission and holds the same legal status as other universities in Nepal.
