SOS Hermann Gmeiner Secondary School

SOS Hermann Gmeiner Secondary School Sanothimi, established in 1973, is located in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2, Bhaktapur, Nepal. Named after Prof. Hermann Gmeiner, the founder of SOS Children's Villages International, the school is the first of its kind in Nepal and operates as an ancillary facility of SOS Children's Village Nepal. It offers education from Nursery to Grade 12, with a focus on the Science stream at the higher secondary level. The school provides scholarships to deserving and needy students, prioritizing those who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care and children from families below the poverty line. Facilities include well-equipped classrooms, science and computer laboratories, a library, and counseling services. In 2018, the school was recognized as the best institutional school in Nepal based on Grade XII Board Examination results conducted by the National Examination Board (NEB) .
