Mid-West University (MU) is a public, autonomous institution of higher learning located in Birendranagar, Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, Nepal.Established on June 17, 2010, through a parliamentary act, MU aims to expand access to quality higher education, particularly in Nepal's mid-western region.The university offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs across various faculties, including Engineering, Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, and Science and Technology.Notably, the Faculty of Engineering provides bachelor's degrees in Civil, Computer, and Hydropower Engineering, as well as master's degrees in Structural Engineering and Construction Management.
MU operates under a semester-based academic system and has adopted modern teaching methodologies such as interactive discussions, problem-solving, case studies, and project-based learning.The university is governed by a Senate, with the Prime Minister of Nepal serving as the Chancellor and the Minister of Education as the Pro-Chancellor.
